(Documentary Digest) Citizenfour wins Oscar for Best Documentary, airs tonight on HBO

At the 2015 Oscars, Laura Poitras’ documentary featuring Edward Snowden won the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature.

The now award-winning documentary Citizenfour debuts on television this evening at 9 p.m. ET on HBO and is available for streaming online.

Citizenfour explores firsthand the Snowden story, as Poitras and journalist Glenn Greenwald were the first to make contact with NSA whistle blower Edward Snowden in Hong Kong.

Though similar to PBS’ United States of Secrets in subject matter, Citizenfour offers a brilliantly unique and intimate perspective to the issue–one only told by those who were there with Snowden.
